Bio
Recent work examines the trajectory of swarm technologies and the influences of biorobotics in postmodern life. I focus specifically on biomimetics: on how animal bodies are being ‘copied’ and their biological functionality replicated. Although robots are becoming more ubiquitous in society, the conceptual framework of what constitutes a robot and what purposes they might serve in the future is not always clearly understood.
My art explores the trepidations aroused by prevalence of these new technologies. I like to explore society’s fears about the continued commodification of lifeforms and the introduction of artificial life into the ‘natural realm’. Scientific visualization language fascinates me; I am also interested in the algorithmic patterns of swarm robotics and the graphical possibilities inherent in these patterns (exhibitions below):
